Each one of the songs included on this playlist sample tracks which feature the remarkable talents of Nile Rodgers, either as a musician, artist or producer.

Listen closely and you’ll be able to hear the unmistakable sound of Rodgers’ disco-pioneers CHIC in tracks by The Sugar Hill Gang, Smiley, Bingoboys featuring Princessa, Snoop Dogg, Faith Evans, Big Bub and The Game. Elements from the Nile Rodgers produced Diana Ross album Diana are included in tracks by Notorious B.I.G., Lupe Fiasco and MC Lyte.

Other Rodgers’ productions sampled on this playlist include Carly Simon’s ‘Why?’ by A Tribe Called Quest, David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ by Puff Daddy, Duran Duran’s ‘Notorious’ somewhat inevitably by Notorious B.I.G. and Will Smith ‘Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It’ over the top of a Sister Sledge classic. And the playlist also features Rodgers’ own track from the Coming to America soundtrack, Soul Glo, courtesy of The Bar.

Sadly there were a number of tracks we were unable to include on this Playlist as they are not currently available on Spotify. These include ‘Pete’s Theme’ by Finesse & Showbiz, which samples ‘Chic Cheer’, ‘Jam It Jam’ by She Rockers which samples ‘I Want Your Love’, De La Soul’s ‘Leave Your Cares Behind’ which samples ‘Good Times’, and the Salt-N-Pepa track ‘Upside Down’, which sampled Diana Ross’ hit of the same name. We encourage you to seek them all out for your own enjoyment.
