But back in 2016 the comedian and actor joined us here at the Southbank Centre to discuss a more serious topic; mental health.

As part of our Changing Minds festival Delaney sat down for a frank conversation about mental health and the depths of depression with Andrew Hankinson, author of You Could Do Something Amazing With Your Life (You Are Raoul Moat).

Our Changing Minds festival (6 & 7 Feb, 2016) explored mental health and the arts through a weekend-long programme of performances, music, design, talks, panel discussions and comedy, which also included opportunities for attendees to take part in yoga sessions, singing workshops and a pop-up art studio. As well as Delaney, other names on the bill included musician Patricia Kopatchinskaja, author and comedian Sofie Hagen and artist Stuart Semple

Delaney’s conversation with Hankinson was subsequently released as a podcast, and can be revisited, here.

‘I was cool with me dying – which is a bummer, you shouldn’t be that way – but when I realised that I didn’t have control over whether I potentially killed other people [through drunk-driving] that was not ok’
