Just as 2026 marks a big anniversary for the Southbank Centre, it’s also a significant milestone for the South Bank skate scene, marking 50 years since skateboarders first laid claim to this brutalist undercroft beneath our Queen Elizabeth Hall. From the early 1970s to the global ‘Long Live Southbank’ (LLSB) movement that saved the spot from redevelopment, this space has been the beating heart of UK skate culture ever since.
