Southbank Centre welcomes school and tour groups.
Southbank Centre welcomes schools visits all year round. We have a variety of bookable workshops throughout the year, as well as regular opportunities to engage with music, singing, literature and spoken word, dance and performance and visual arts.
Alongside these we also have schools’ activities as part of our regular festivals including opportunities to learn with artists, watch professional performances and develop your students’ skills and knowledge.
All school events are displayed on our Primary School and Secondary School pages but you can also keep up to date with our latest offers and opportunities.
Outside of these events, we may be able to accommodate groups of students to eat their lunch and use the toilets. It would help us greatly, however, if schools contact the Duty Manager in advance to check that we have enough space available on the day of your planned visit.
Adult supervision is required at all times with the following adult-to-student ratios:
- 1:5 for under 5s
- 1:10 for 6- to 11-year-olds
- 1:15 for 12- to 16-year-olds
- 1:20 for 16- to 18-year-olds
We run regular teachers’ evenings throughout the year that provide opportunities to watch, visit and enjoy the range of artistic performances and exhibitions that Southbank Centre offers, as well as the chance to meet our Learning and Participation team.
To book in for any of our teachers’ evenings please contact the group bookings line. We can offer two tickets per teacher unless otherwise stated and all events have a limited capacity.

Group bookings cannot be made online. Group bookers are sometimes eligible for ticket discounts of up to 50% too although the offer will vary according to the terms of the specific show or event booked and the nature and size of the group.
Once the reservation has been made an invoice can be emailed to the tutor/group booker or direct to the organisation's finance department.
Payment can be made by card or BACS transfer. Discounts may be available for the group and all our tickets include VAT.
Access to our free events is on a first come, first serve basis and cannot be booked in advance unless the event is listed as ‘free but ticketed’.

Cloakroom facilities are available on request by emailing the Duty Manager in advance to check that we will have space available.
Please note that although belongings can be kept safe while participants are rehearsing and performing in events at Southbank Centre, we do not always have storage spaces for bags at other times. Participants are responsible for ensuring that all of their belongings are kept safe. We recommend that you only bring essential items with you.
All group leaders should carry out their own risk assessment prior to their visit although one can be obtained from our Group Line on request.
Teachers are responsible for students’ behaviour and safety at all times. At no stage can Southbank Centre assume the formal duty of care on behalf of teachers.
