Another World Is Possible: Caroline Lucas Lecture
The former leader of the Green Party speaks on the central role the cultural sector must play in responding to the climate and nature crises.
Caroline Lucas gives the Cultural Philanthropy Foundation’s annual Thought Leadership Lecture.
Lucas sets out how our failure to respond to the scale and impact of the climate emergency is, at its heart, a failure of imagination, and makes the case that culture is an essential catalyst for wider social and political transformation.
Those engaged in culture and heritage – institutions, artists and audiences alike – are key to imagining a more liveable future by telling bolder and more compelling stories about who we are and what we can achieve.
Caroline Lucas, the UK’s first Green Party MP, was elected to parliament in 2010 and represented Brighton Pavilion for 14 years; she served as leader of the Green Party of England and Wales 2008–12, and as co-leader 2016–18. She was previously a Member of the European Parliament for ten years. Her latest book is the Sunday Times bestseller Another England: How to Reclaim Our National Story.
The Cultural Philanthropy Foundation’s Thought Leadership Lecture is sponsored by Achates.
