British Sign Language Tours: Tavares Strachan

Artist Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq leads you through Tavares Strachan: There Is Light Somewhere, discussing the artist’s ideas and techniques.

The exhibition showcases the remarkably inventive ways in which Strachan has celebrated unsung explorers and cultural trailblazers.

Monumental sculptures and installations invite audiences to engage with overlooked characters whose stories represent and illuminate histories hidden by bias.

Aurangzeb-Tariq is a London-based artist and facilitator whose work concerns culture, deaf identity and, as a deaf woman of Pakistani heritage, the multi-faceted nature of being a ‘minority within a minority’.

Through her own paintings and installations, she creates visual representations of language and emotional expression through her use of colour and form. She has exhibited widely nationally and internationally and has featured several times on national television.
