Choose Love x Jon Hopkins
Immerse yourself in a spellbinding audiovisual experience featuring 60 artworks created by refugees and a transcendent original score from musician Jon Hopkins.
Celebrate the strength and resilience of people seeking sanctuary through painting, sound and visual design.
To mark Refugee Week, and this year’s theme of ‘courage’, Choose Love curates an immersive and captivating audiovisual installation bringing together incredible art created by refugees around the world, in partnership with refugee-led organisations and community groups.
Accompanying the art, composer Jon Hopkins’ generative original score, developed in collaboration with Brian Eno, beautifully explores ideas of home, safety and belonging.
Visual artist Dan Tombs layers the paintings with projected imagery that appears to float above and around you, immersing you in the power and creativity of the artists.

UNHCR projects that 136 million people will be forcibly displaced or stateless in 2026 – more than double the number recorded in 2015, when Choose Love’s work began. Each image on screen is designed to represent just over a million people who will be displaced this year.

This event is held at the Purcell Room Southbank Centre
The Purcell Room is located in the Queen Elizabeth Hall, which is open from 90 minutes before events start until they finish. It’s closed at all other times.

We’re working hard to remove barriers, so that our facilities and events can be accessible to as many people as possible.
