Felsmann + Tiley
Soaring, cinematic, moving: give yourself up to the German synth duo’s music, melding maximum emotional impact with neo-classical minimalism.
Fresh from the release of their epic second album, Protomensch, Felsmann + Tiley presents an immersive live show.
How long can an artist with an instantly recognisable sound stay anonymous? For years, apparently. You may already know Felsmann + Tiley’s reinterpretation of M83’s ‘Solitude’, a track that has over 200 million streams to date, but not be aware of the brilliant duo behind it.
Since meeting in 2003 on a German music production forum, Dominik Felsmann and Patrick Tiley have followed a creative path that has led to multiple releases, production credits and DJ gigs around the world.
The release of Protomensch marks the moment their full artistic vision is brought to fruition for the first time to create a confident and compelling blend of electronic, neo-classical and film music, immersive live experiences and a social commentary on the current state of the world.
Felsmann + Tiley’s passion for putting their own stamp on vocally driven tracks shines out on Protomensch, where the darkest shades of shimmering synthwave, pounding trance and introspective IDM are illuminated with alt-pop vocals by featured guests, including Pet Deaths, The Kite String Tangle, Woodes and Laius.
This juxtaposition between sentient beings and machines permeates the whole album, down to the next-level live shows involving collaboration with dozens of visual artists.
The duo’s visually charged sound has secured high-profile syncs, including their reinterpretations of The Irrepressibles’ ‘The Most Beautiful Boy’, used in the Netflix series Young Royals, and M83’s ‘Solitude’, which scored the Season 3 trailer for the BAFTA-winning series Top Boy.
Protomensch is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2018’s more classically inclined debut album Tempora, inspired by artists including Nils Frahm, Deadmau5 and Ólafur Arnalds.
