Future Artists: Royal Academy of Music & Manchester Collective
Hear works by brilliant young artists mentored by members of Resident Artist Manchester Collective through a series of workshops and conversations.
The students are the first cohort of a new creative partnership between the Southbank Centre and the Royal Academy of Music, which sees our Resident Artists sharing their unique practices with students, working on how to develop their artistry beyond technique and notation, into a more collaborative and creative sphere of experimentalism and playfulness.
In tonight’s concert, the students perform material they have composed and refined under the guidance of Rakhi Singh, Artistic Director of Manchester Collective.
It is a demonstration of a new approach to organised musical education, one that Manchester Collective has championed and advocated for and that has one goal at its heart: to demystify the creative process and normalise risk-taking in ‘classical’ music-making.
