Following the government's advice on face covering in crowded areas, we strongly recommend that you wear a face mask out of respect for others. If you're not able to wear a face covering, please ask for an exemption badge on entry.

    Dal:um duo photoshoot Purcell Sessions
    SHIN-JOONG KIM

Dal:um are a Seoul-based musical duo who challenge the sonic possibilities of Korea’s most well-known traditional string instruments

The gayageum is played by Ha Suyean and the geomungo by Hwang Hyeyoung. Despite their apparent similarity, the two instruments are surprisingly different from each other in structure, playing technique and tone.

The fusion of the two is exactly the kind of experimentation our Purcell Sessions exist for.

Dal:um’s innovative interpretations create a harmony between the two. Their beautifully balanced and expansive music is defined by inspired dialogue and creative paradox.

In 2021, they released their first album Similar and Different on Glitterbeat’s label imprint tak:til.

This performance is part of the K-Music Festival, and is commissioned by the Yeowoorak Festival. The two festivals continue to work together to present the very best of Korean talent.
