Hofesh Shechter: From England with Love

England’s complex identity takes centre stage in the UK premiere of Hofesh Shechter’s compelling new dance work, performed by Shechter II.

This event has passed

Through Shechter’s choreography, the dancers evoke the paradox at the heart of the nation, conflicted by its dark history and powerful attachment to old traditions, and draw us into a search for an English identity.

Performed to a rich score that clashes the refined melodies of English composers with raging rock music, alongside echoes of choir and electronics, the music is both nostalgic and challenging, simultaneously looking forwards and backwards in time.

Playful and poignant, full of pride and paradox, From England with Love is a peek into the heart and soul of this multifaceted place.

From England with Love is produced by Hofesh Shechter Company and co-commissioned by Château Rouge.

Hofesh Shechter Company is grateful for funding from John Ellerman Foundation, The Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation and Jerwood Foundation. Hofesh Shechter Company is supported using public funding through Arts Council England, and through BNP Paribas Foundation for the development of its projects.
