Hooley in the Kitchen
Everyone’s welcome at this energetic event across the afternoon and into the evening, filled with live music, dancing and good craic along the Thames.
Inspired by author Emma Warren’s dual citizenship, this session takes the idea of a hooley in the kitchen (an Irish party, usually featuring music) and expands it, bringing together traditional musicians from Northern Ireland and sound system-influenced south Londoners with Irish heritage.
This Hooley in the Kitchen, on our Riverside Terrace, celebrates the ordinary dancing that happens at home, where friends, neighbours and loved ones gather for a knees-up.

Síbín is a collective that works with audio and visual media to explore areas around identity and culture. It’s made up of Anja Ngozi, a producer, DJ, soundtrack composer and visual artist, and audio-visual artist Shauwdii.
London-born Tad Sargent, whose family roots come from Castlebar in county Mayo, started playing music at a young age on the piano. He started playing the bodhrán (the Irish drum) in 2002 after re-discovering his childhood love for Irish music, and for this event he teams up with Emma Warren on the decks to play some tracks together.
Stay on for BASSIS Showcase taking place after the event, bringing DJs and sound systems representing bass culture and reggae roots to the dance floor.
