Portrait of Poet, TS Eliot

Hear the best new poetry coming out of the UK and Ireland in a live-streamed event hosted by Ian McMillan, with readings by the ten poets shortlisted for this year’s prize.

Whatever the size of the platform, wherever it’s heard, poetry speaks with a clear, compelling voice, about our inner lives and of the biggest issues we face.

These readings by the authors of the best collections of 2022 are no exception.

This year, the shortlist has been chosen by judges Jean Sprackland (Chair), Hannah Lowe and Roger Robinson.

The shortlisted poets are:

Victoria Adukwei Bulley, Quiet (Faber)
Fiona Benson, Ephemeron (Cape Poetry)
Jemma Borg, Wilder (Pavilion Poetry, Liverpool University Press)
James Conor Patterson, bandit country (Picador)
Philip Gross, The Thirteenth Angel (Bloodaxe)
Anthony Joseph, Sonnets for Albert (Bloomsbury Poetry)
Zaffar Kunial, England’s Green (Faber)
Mark Pajak, Slide (Cape Poetry)
Denise Saul, The Room Between Us (Pavilion Poetry,Liverpool University Press)
Yomi Ṣode, Manorism (Penguin Poetry)

The heart-and-mind-expanding opener of the literary year, the TS Eliot Prize Readings are hosted by poet and broadcaster Ian McMillan.

The TS Eliot Prize is among the world’s most celebrated awards. Inaugurated in 1993 to celebrate the Poetry Book Society’s 40th birthday and to honour its founding poet, the prize is now awarded by the TS Eliot Foundation.

Presented in partnership with the TS Eliot Foundation
