Mix & Move: Afrobeats with Kiduku Rhythms

Fri 27 Sep – Fri 22 Nov 2024, 3pm

Come on down and kick off your weekend at our dance workshops with joyous movement from our autumn Mix & Move dance leaders, Kiduku Rhythms.

Part of Open Doors

Showcasing dance styles and dancers from across the globe, Mix & Move is our monthly programme of dance workshops to get you moving to the music.

Kiduku Afro brings the joy of rhythm and movement from the lively streets of East Africa, incorporating Afrobeats, amapiano and Singeli-inspired steps for a fun and inclusive dance experience.

Over three sessions, Kiduku’s Rhythms founder Silyvesta takes us through warm-ups and teaches moves and a simple routine. The sessions culminate in a celebration of all things Kiduku with a social dance showcasing everything you’ve learnt so far.

Schedule
Fri 27 Sep: workshop
Fri 25 Oct: workshop
Fri 22 Nov: workshop and celebration, with live steel pans

About Mix & Move
Guest professionals are joined by our resident dancers Natasha Khamjani and Damien Anyasi to introduce you to new dance styles, taking you through the steps so you can light up the dance floor and discover new rhythms. You don’t need to be a dancer, nor have experience or a partner: Mix & Move is just about getting together and getting going to the music!

Each Mix & Move event offers you the chance to explore different forms of dance, learn new moves and meet new people. Running in blocks of three, come along to get to grips with a dance style for two sessions, and then break out your moves in the final social dance session, celebrating the sounds and the moves of the dance.

So whether you’re hitting up the dance floor every week or have two left feet, step up to the Southbank Centre to find your flair with us.
