Neoprene Genie: Dream Jump
A captivating mix of speech, music, poetry and visuals untangles what it means to wish for the lives we desire in a world where dreaming feels so hard.
Neoprene Genie presents Dream Jump, a vignette, anthology-style production written and directed by Tice Cin.
Like any dream, the evening sweeps you up in its enchanting flow, threading together monologues from talented actors, dreamlike musical interludes, searching poetry, cinematic intervals, scoring from the Neoprene Genie team, structural art from Clemens Grömmer and a short film by JACKSON kaki featuring avant-garde performer nizika. Plus, guest compositions from the likes of Nammy Wams and Tokyo-based artist Yuri.
Featuring poetry and songs of retrieval from Latekid, a negotiation with shadows from rapper M.I.C and composer Nammy Wams, lullabies and tavern songs from Tahini Molasses, nightmare-like interludes from poet Mandisa Apena, dance poetry on the dreaming body from Chantel Foo, and monologues from Gabriel Àkámọ́ and an actor still to be announced, written by Tice Cin and scored by KMNC.
Bespoke visuals run the whole night from award-winning visual artists Misbah Anjum-James and Kareem Parkins-Brown, and guest film-maker JACKSON kaki.
Think of a dream where a bird lands on a snowy branch and unsettles the cold onto your face below; you wake and your cheek feels refreshed. This is the feeling captured in Dream Jump – a one-of-a-kind experience that untangles what it means to wish for the lives we desire in a world where dreaming feels so hard.
