Norman Jay & Friends
It’s good vibes all round with this line-up of three iconic DJs – Norman Jay, Charlie Dark and Marcia Carr – spinning the decks in a late-night party.
Norman Jay is unquestionably one of the most respected and popular DJs in the world today. Co- founder of the legendary Good Times Sound System and London dance music station KISS FM, Jay fostered the ‘Rare Groove’ scene, pushing the boundaries of the UK’s emerging club culture.
His signature positive sound continues to convert generations of clubbers to the sound of ‘Good Times’.
Raised in South London on a diet of pirate radio and warehouse parties, Charlie Dark has been spinning records and igniting dance floors since the early 1980s.
From his time on Mo Wax records with Attica Blues in the 1990s, a major label deal on Sony Records and the plethora of remixes and productions, DJing and bringing people together has been at the heart of his life.
With a vast record collection spanning various genres his predominately vinyl sets are known for their eclecticism spanning dub to disco to house, funk, soul, reggae, African gems and beyond.
Marcia Carr is a music aficionado whose experience on the decks runs four decades deep.
As a DJ, she’s held residencies at London’s Jazz Cafe, The Cause and Soho House, and her club sets weave together sounds that pay homage to the Black roots of dance music – past, present and future.
You can find her spinning everything from tech house and broken beat to disco, gospel and dubstep, but there’s always a distinct rich soulfulness or jazzy touch that permeates her selections and her radio sets, specifically her ‘Everything Good’ residency on Rinse FM.
