Olivia Cuttill & COLECTIVA
Get down to the jazz groove as Olivia Cuttill and her all-star quintet perform music from their new album, with tropical rhythms from Latin jazz icons COLECTIVA.
The sounds of jazz, blues, bossa nova and South American grooves fuse these stellar musicians together, as they share brand new original compositions and their favourite standards.
Olivia Cuttill is an East London-raised, Leeds-based jazz trumpeter, composer and lyricist. The third generation of musicians in her family, she has always been fascinated with music; jazz, funk and soul, and the music of Joni Mitchell, Ray Charles and Lee Morgan all heavily influence her sound, and her style of composition and improvisation gleams with character.
On her latest album, The Whole Damn Plan, a collection of thoughts, feelings and anecdotes come together to create joyously memorable and highly danceable music.
Meanwhile, UK Latin jazz pioneers COLECTIVA explore the spaces between Afro-Latin music and jazz while reflecting on themes of sisterhood and female empowerment.
They have taken audiences in the UK, US, and Europe by storm with their explosive musicianship and charismatic performances, creating a sound affectionately dubbed ‘jazz tropicaliente’ (hot-tropical-jazz).
Crafting thoughtful arrangements rooted in the sounds of Africa, Latin America and the diaspora, their music is rich in bold horn lines, jazz harmonies and Afro-Latin groove.
