Oneohtrix Point Never
Vibe along with the multi-hyphenate experimental artist Oneohtrix Point Never as he tours to share his most recent album, Again, with support from DJ Oklou.
Experimental electronic producer, composer and singer-songwriter Oneohtrix Point Never (or OPN, aka Daniel Lopatin) takes over Royal Festival Hall in his first transatlantic tour since that for his album Age Of, which was accompanied by his MYRIAD ‘concertscape’ in 2018/19.
This latest show is a live reimagining of his forthcoming album Again, and features a visual collaboration with the acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Freeka Tet, and support from French musician and singer Oklou.
The Again tour is presented in OPN’s trademark melodic touch, and follows the highly acclaimed multimedia concert MYRIAD, which was linked to the LP Age Of (2018).
Much like 2015’s Garden of Delete, Again germinated as a collaboration between Lopatin’s current and younger selves – this time, a meditation on his musical identity during young adulthood, from the perspective of middle age.
The album joins the ranks of OPN’s critically acclaimed albums, including his most recent, 2020’s Magic Oneohtrix Point Never. Since that release, Lopatin has been in demand in every arena of musical culture, serving as musical director for The Weeknd’s 2021 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance and as executive producer for his chart-topping album, Dawn FM. (Lopatin also performed on a majority of the songs.)
He composed and performed the music for Chanel’s 2021 show for their Métiers d’art collection, and has worked with James Blake, Charli XCX, Iggy Pop and Rosalia. Lopatin’s production credits include FKA twigs and Nine Inch Nails, among others.
For her performance, Oklou presents an experimental DJ set, Oklou’s MP3s, where she digs into her digital archive. With influences ranging from experimental ambient to electronica and R&B, Oklou’s mixtape Galore, released in 2020, garnered much attention internationally, with collaborations from Shygirl, Sega Bodega and AG Cook among others.
This is not the first time the two artists have been affiliated: in December 2022, they worked together to host a 2 hour show for Bottega Radio on NTS.
