Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Polina Leschenko & Reto Bieri
The violinist leads a programme full of surprises and rich in fantasy, including compositions of her own, in her first concert as Resident Artist.
Patricia Kopatchinskaja performs with two of her cherished colleagues, clarinettist Reto Bieri and pianist Polina Leschenko, in a programme of 20th-century classics and contemporary adventures, including extracts from Kopatchinskaja’s own violin and clarinet duos Ghiribizzi (Whims).
Enescu’s Violin Sonsta No.3 `dans le caractère populaire roumain’ (in Romanian Folk Style) forms the centrepiece of the first half.
Bartók’s Contrasts lights the way with edgy inventiveness and Paul Schoenfield’s Clarinet Trio calls up the frenetic vitality, anguish and humour of klezmer, Jewish folk music from eastern Europe.
