Peng Femme Jam: Inclusive Jam & After-Party
Join for a jam and stay for DJs spinning tunes into the small hours, with the inclusive east London collective created to platform gender-diverse musicians.
The jam culture in London is buzzing. But jams, much like the wider music industry, are often male-dominated. We’re breaking down jamming barriers at this inclusive jam, so whether you’re just starting out or an absolute legend in the scene, sign up and come along to connect with other musicians, including the Peng Femme Jam house band.
Peng Femme Jam was set up in 2021 to create an inclusive space for women, queer and trans global majority musicians to play together, nurturing their creativity and encouraging them to reach their potential as artists and musicians.
The jam is open to musicians of all backgrounds, instruments and genres, and people who identify as women or non-binary are encouraged to take the spotlight. All you need to do is sign up.
After the jam, a Peng Femme DJ spins tunes into the small hours. See you on the dance floor!
This jam is part of Montreux Jazz Festival’s residency here, which explores the question ‘What is jazz today?’
During the evening musicians from our Artist Residential, a new talent exchange program between Southbank Centre and the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation, the educative wing of the Montreux Jazz Festival, share a ‘reimagined’ piece. This collaborative work pays homage to the iconic Nina Simone and is performed by this year’s participants: NNAVY, a rising jazz star from Lausanne; Matthieu Llodra, a versatile genre-crossing musician from Geneva; and British artists Zoé Pascal on drums and Daisy George on bass.
This showcase is proudly supported by the Swiss Cultural Fund UK, key supporters of the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation.
