Relaxed Hours: Tavares Strachan
Take in our current exhibition, Tavares Strachan: There Is Light Somewhere in a relaxed environment with additional support at our Relaxed Hours event.
Come along for a guided tour of the exhibition Tavares Strachan: There Is Light Somewhere, and spend some time in our Relaxed Hours studio spaces, with workshops and activities for you to play, create and reflect with artists and the Southbank Centre’s Arts & Wellbeing Team.
Play with light and shadow, and try sensory clay-making with artist Georgia Akbar to explore themes of visibility and invisibility, belonging and inclusion.
Get creative with collage, mask-making, photography and costume, with artist Shepherd Manyika, to explore themes of discovery and adventure, looking into our past and creating new worlds for ourselves in the future.
Spend time in our hang-out space led by artist Arji Manuelpillai, and be inspired by Tavares Strachan’s Encyclopedia of Invisibility to discover untold stories and forgotten heroes who deserve recognition.
We welcome everyone to the gallery throughout our opening hours but we also recognise that some visitors may require a more relaxed approach to noise and movement in the space, or additional support to experience exhibitions fully – such as those with sensory processing differences, neurodivergent visitors or those living with neurological conditions, as well as early-year visitors, parents and carers.
We don’t expect visitors to be quiet. It is a time and space for you to be yourself. Take up space with reduced exhibition capacity. A chill-out space and noise-cancelling headphones are available.
Open to all and we encourage bookings from SEND schools and community groups.
Relaxed Hours are generously supported by City Bridge Foundation and the U.S. Embassy London
