Soweto Kinch: Soundtrack to the Apocalypse
The saxophonist and rapper melds jazz and beat-based hip-hop in this world premiere of the album that completes a trilogy with Black Peril and White JuJu.
The premiere is part of Montreux Jazz Festival’s residency here, which explores the question ‘What is jazz today?’ through the lens of Nina Simone’s work.
The exciting and versatile musician Soweto Kinch not only speaks to the brilliance of Simone’s music but also embodies her political spirit.
Like Simone, Kinch boldly uses his music to question and challenge the status quo, highlight past injustices and share thoughtful commentary on what’s to come.
Soundtrack to the Apocalypse responds to present reality and explores the cosmic mysteries of the future, for an energetic and danceable perspective on the end times.
