Teachers’ Twilight: Tavares Strachan
Primary, secondary and SEND teachers are invited to explore our current Hayward Gallery exhibition and find out how to make the most of it with your classes.
The Southbank Centre’s Schools team hosts you for a drinks reception, an introduction to the exhibition by a curator and an evening viewing of Tavares Strachan: There Is Light Somewhere.
The event begins in the Dan Graham Waterloo Sunset Pavilion in the Hayward Gallery Cafe with refreshments and an introduction to the exhibition from one of our curators at the gallery.
We also introduce you to the different ways that you can visit the Hayward Gallery with your school.
Following this, you can explore the gallery at your leisure and prepare for your next visit with your students.
The exhibition is the first mid-career survey of the New York-based, Bahamian artist Tavares Strachan, whose work illuminates histories hidden by bias.
Featuring monumental new sculptural commissions alongside striking large-scale collages, neon works, bronze and ceramic sculptures, the exhibition showcases the remarkably inventive ways in which Strachan has celebrated unsung explorers and cultural trailblazers.
The Southbank Centre Schools team is on hand to support and answer any questions throughout the evening.
