The Ceilidh Jam with Folk Dance Remixed
Move, groove and party with maypole dancing, ceilidh favourites and street dance moves, all tied together with live beatboxing and a fiddle band.
Take part in Street Dance the Maypole, creating ripples and breaks around a bespoke, ribboned, 12-foot freestanding maypole.
Learn a funky routine to live music, mixing classic maypole dances, like the Chrysanthemum Wrap and the Twister, with street dance moves, to a unique soundtrack of fiddle and beatboxing.
Ceilidh Jam gets guests on their feet for a funked-up, unique social dance – a great chance for all to get grooving. Using traditional callers to teach moves, they mix folk formations, street dance and freestyle grooves – from Strip the Willow to the Electric Slide.
Between workshops, the party keeps going with live DJ sets from Guava Jamz to keep the energy high all day.
Guava Jamz is a London-based multi-genre not-for-profit party. They run events across London raising money for humanitarian and environmental causes whilst also hosting stages at festivals including We Out Here, Westival and more.
Folk Dance Remixed is a fresh, quirky, colourful and magical collision of traditional, hip-hop and folk dance and music styles, including maypole, clogging, ceilidh, street, house and breakdance, with a hint of African dance and Bollywood.
Led by Artistic Directors Kerry Fletcher and Natasha Khamjani, the company aims to rediscover old traditions through contemporary forms and take it out on the streets through performances, workshops and participatory ceilidh jams.
