Join us for a live event exploring the different spaces that a young musician tries to pass through and call home as she attempts to figure out what she wants from the city, and whether the city is prepared to give it to her.

A star-studded cast performs excerpts and monologues from the book, including BODUR, Tice Cin and more to be announced, with beats by KMNC, Tice Cin and Ikonika.
Safe Spaces is a portrait of the artist as a young musician, following our unnamed narrator as she attempts to survive on a combination of Universal Credit, music production and songwriting, navigating love affairs and halted by pain following the loss of her closest confidante.
This is a story of the DJ booths and dances that shape her, and the worlds she finds herself in, be they nightclubs, her Turkish-Cypriot family, the beauty parlour, the studio. A deeply intimate portrait of a community and a moving personal reckoning, it fearlessly asks: can the dream of a safe space ever be realised?
