Beehive Poets at Bradford City Library

Fri 2 May | 7-8pm

Venue: City Library

Address: Centenary Square, Bradford, BD1 1SD

Join the Beehive Poets for their next event featuring poet Julia Deakin, with a supporting reading by Rob Maslen.

Julia Deakin was born in Nuneaton in 1956 and worked her way north to Yorkshire via Shropshire, the Potteries and Manchester. ‘Crafted, tender poems, written with passion and purpose,’ said Simon Armitage of her first collection; her fourth, Sleepless (Valley Press, 2019) is commended by Gillian Clarke. A birder, walker and ice-skater, she has featured twice on Poetry Please and won a few prizes – none of them for skating.

Rob Maslen is from Bradford and a long-time member of the Beehive poets. His pamphlet Much Needed Unrest (Templar Poetry) was published in 2023.
