Ekphrastic Writing Workshop

Join Elspeth Walker, writer and visual artist, for a creative workshop exploring ekphrastic writing.

Ekphrastic work is produced in relation or response to a visual artwork. Within this workshop, participants will learn a basic background of ekphrasis, explore how artworks are read/looked at, and create their own written works in response to various art pieces. They will explore contemporary examples and traditional methods of responding to art, from poetry to prose.

All levels of entry welcomed, and materials provided, but participants must bring their own notebooks if they wish to use one.
