Gathering and Editing Your First Collection

This course aims to support anyone looking to gather a substantial body of poems into a first collection.

This 6 week course works through how to select material, give a collection cohesion and a structural arc and how to be ruthless with what you leave out.

We look at the editing of individual poems and the balance of the collection as a whole.

Each week, participants will receive a course tutorial, via email. As well as content to read, there will be links to audio and visual content to bring the material ‘off the page’. There will be (optional) tasks, and Live Canon will give feedback via email.

To give participants a peer group, with which to discuss the course and tasks, Live Canon will create an online chat forum for all course participants.

This course is aimed to be done flexibly around personal commitments.
