Giving a voice to the goddesses- poetry workshop with Anna Saunders

Wed 10 Sep 2025, 7pm

Venue: Online

In this workshop led by Anna Saunders, participants will explore the portrayal of women and other marginalised figures in Greek/Roman myth, and reclaim and rewrite their stories with a contemporary twist. Drawing upon mythical symbolism and characters, attendees will be encouraged to dramatise modern, perhaps political and social, challenges, trials, and prejudices. Learn how to utilise ancient narratives, making them new, urgent and arresting.

Anna Saunders’ new collection Eurydice in the Ruined House gives voice and back-story to Eurydice, frequently seen merely as the lover of Orpheus, or – as Rilke described her: the emptiness at the heart of the rose. The collection also takes a group of down-on-their-luck artists and gives them the status of Greek gods.
