Noriaki by Endre Ruset - Edinburgh Book Launch

Mon 28 Oct 2024, 7pm

Venue: Typewronger Books, Edinburgh

Address: 4a Haddington Place, EH7 4AE, Edinburgh

Noriaki by Norwegian poet Endre Ruset is a collection of poems about the legendary Japanese ski jumping Olympian, Noriaki Kasai. This launch event will feature readings by Endre Ruset and translator Harry Man along with a live score by Jovana Backovic, at Edinburgh’s iconic Typewronger Books.

Featuring a foreword by bestselling crime writer Jo Nesbø, Endre Ruset documents the highs and lows of one of ski jumping’s most celebrated (and oldest-still competing) athletes, Noriaki Kasai. Using a mixture of haiku and haiku-esque three line poems that reflect the three stages of a ski jump, the in-run, the “hop” and the landing, Endre Ruset takes readers on a playful journey through the one of the most admired and dangerous winter sports.
