You and Me: local writers mark International Day of Friendship

Closing date: 30 June 2025

Milton Keynes Literary Festival launches a competition to anyone living, working or studying in Bucks, Beds or Northants aged 14 or older, to submit a story (fictional or factual) or a poem around the theme of friendship.

July 30 marks International Day of Friendship, designated by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2011. Friendship is one of the foundations of human experience and friends are a source of joy, comfort, support and understanding. They are something we have learn to make, to live with and make allowances for – and something that we need to learn to be.

There are no rules: entrants can write in any genre and any aspect, form or experience of friendship is equally valid.

Judged by MK Lit Fest Steering Group.
