Queen Elizabeth Hall building at Southbank Centre

Queen Elizabeth Hall

A brutalist icon on the banks of the Thames

The Queen Elizabeth Hall is a leading London venue showcasing world-class talks, gigs, dance, performance and classical music.

Originally opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1967, our Queen Elizabeth Hall underwent a significant refurbishment and renovation between 2015 and 2018 to bring through its original aesthetic.

The building contains both the 900-seat Queen Elizabeth Hall auditorium and our most intimate hall, the Purcell Room. It’s also home to our vibrant Queen Elizabeth Hall Roof Garden, which, as the name suggests, can be found on top of the venue, up the yellow stairs.
