An Evening with Jacqueline Wilson
Delve into the bestselling author’s hugely popular Sleepovers series of books with a live draw-along.
The first Sleepovers book introduces Amy, Bella, Chloe, Daisy and Emily who are best friends at school. Daisy is the newest member, she’s desperate to fit in, even though Chloe is VERY unfriendly to her at times.
The three books in the Sleepovers series follow Daisy as she navigates the ups and downs of friendship and family dynamics (while of course planning and attending lots of amazing sleepovers!).
Wilson’s latest book, The Seaside Sleepover, focuses on Daisy and her sister Lily – and one very naughty dog called Scruff. The sisters are longing for a trip to the seaside. Will they get the holiday of their dreams and maybe even a seaside sleepover?!
Jacqueline Wilson talks about the creation of the series, how it feels to publish a sequel 25 years after the first book and why she made sleepovers so important in the stories.
Wilson is joined on stage by illustrator of the book, Rachael Dean, who leads a live draw-along for the audience, creating some of the book’s characters on stage.
Former children’s laureate and author of more than 100 books, Wilson is one of Britain’s bestselling children’s authors. Known for characters like Tracy Beaker and Hetty Feather, she has legions of loyal fans both in the UK and throughout the world.
Rachael Dean is a freelance illustrator whose painted images are rich and bold. She lives on the coast near Liverpool and loves to gather inspiration from nature. Dean has created illustrations for middle-grade fiction as well as picture books.
