Creative Encounters: Soul Sounds & Sketching
Dive into a sociable and soulful session of music from YAZ, and drawing with 2B Or Not 2B Collective, in our welcoming Wednesday session for everyone.
2B Or Not 2B Collective invite you in from the cold for an evening of connection, contemplation and sketching after beautiful sounds from young south-east London-based artist YAZ. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or have never picked up a pencil before, come and join us to explore art together.
2B Or Not 2B Collective are a POC-run drawing group that focuses on uplifting and increasing the exposure of marginalised and underrepresented tutors and models within the art industry through their welcoming creative workshops. They are based in London but also stream to an international audience, and have one of the largest drawing reference libraries of diverse life models.
YAZ, born in France with Palestinian heritage, infuses the London jazz scene with an enchanting fusion of Arabic traditional music and contemporary jazz. Drawing inspiration from artists like Fairouz, Yebba, and the poignant storytelling of French chanson, YAZ melds these influences into a uniquely personal and compelling sound.
Join us for live music, hands on creative challenges, poetry from the National Poetry Library, and plenty of things to make and do while you meet new people. So if you’re new to the capital and feeling a little lost – or just eager to meet people and discover something new, come join us and make the Southbank Centre your home for the evening.
