Creative Encounters: Spice-Blending Stories
In this festive, sensory evening, warm up with Winter Warmer Chai, explore the healing properties of spices, and create your own blends to take home.
Chai is more than just a cup of tea. It’s a ritual, a memory, a migration story — and a site of both comfort and complexity.
Come and explore it with us, as artist and researcher Roo Dhissou leads this session sharing the joy of tea-making, and gently reflecting on the deeper layers of what it means to work with ingredients like tea and spice — and the stories, power and history they carry.
Walk away nourished, with a full heart, a full cup, and your own jar of spiced blend to keep or gift.
Roo Dhissou is a multifaceted artist, researcher, publisher, writer, and PhD candidate whose practice spans sculpture, installation, moving image, craft, and community engaged collaboration. Her work challenges dominant narratives and reflects deeply on disability, lived experience, social, environmental and material justice.
Creative Encounters is your creative space in the heart of the city, bringing together Londoners old and new for live performance, making and conversation.
