Booker Prize Winner In Conversation 2020

In a digital celebration of the coveted literary prize, this year’s winner appears in conversation in their first public event following the announcement.

For the past 14 years, we have hosted the shortlist readings in our Royal Festival Hall, but this year we present an exclusive interview with the 2020 winner.

In a digital evening of readings and conversation, plus an audience Q&A, the winning author discusses their novel and the experience of securing the £50,000 prize.

Making up the most diverse shortlist in the Booker Prize’s history, in contention for the award are The New Wilderness by Diane Cook, This Mournable Body by Tsitsi Dangarembga, Burnt Sugar by Avni Doshi, The Shadow King by Maaza Mengiste, Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart and Real Life by Brandon Taylor.

The leading literary award in the English-speaking world, the Booker Prize is awarded annually for the best novel of the year written in English and published in the UK or Ireland.

This event is pre-recorded exclusively for the Southbank Centre.
