Maggie Nelson

Sat 11 Jul 2026, 7.30pm

Ambition, patriarchy, Sylvia Plath, Taylor Swift – revered author Maggie Nelson reads from her latest book The Slicks, which unpacks it all.

Join us for an evening with the author of Bluets and The Argonauts, as she gives a live reading from her new work.

Exploring Sylvia Plath and Taylor Swift as cultural twins, The Slicks’s genre-defying work melds popular culture and literary criticism to examine the forces of female ambition, creativity and fame in the face of patriarchal barriers.

Nelson, a writer described by singer Kim Gordon as ‘inventive, fearless and full of heart’, also opens the floor to your questions in a Q&A session.
