Raw Material: Journey to the Soul
Young creatives from the Brixton-based community music and creative arts charity curate a night of performances, spoken word, collaborative cyphers and DJ sets.
Come along and experience Journey to the Soul, an intergenerational celebration of music, creativity and culture, exploring themes of youth, nostalgia, self-expression, wellbeing and identity.
The evening opens with a nostalgic R&B set from DJ Domunique, before live performances from Joel Jack and Cosmos Zero, accompanied by a live band. A second DJ interval leads into a special spoken word performance by Eddie and the Raw Material House Band.
The second half of the evening features three collaborative cyphers, led by DJ ONKXR, celebrating the rich musical influences that shape south London. Expect Punjabi fusion, R&B, reggae, hip-hop, Afro-swing and Afrobeats. Bringing together emerging and established artists from the Raw Material community, the cyphers showcase the spirit of collaboration, cultural exchange and live improvisation that sits at the heart of London’s music scene.
Featured artists include Eddie Aboagye, Armor, Karan Bains (dhol player), Alex Bird, Michael Grandison, Edwin Mojakhomo and Juss Nandhra. Accompanying them is the house band featuring Jess Clarke (percussion), Rachel Nelken (cello) and James Yarde (keys).
Hosted by artists LDEEA and Caxxianne, the evening wraps up on the dance floor with a final DJ set from DJ Domunique.
Curated by young creatives from the Raw Material Music & Media community, the event celebrates London’s vibrant cultural landscape while showcasing the next generation of emerging artists, highlighting the power of creativity to bring people together across generations, backgrounds and communities.
Raw Materials is a charity and creative careers hub in Brixton offering young creatives free access to a range of participatory opportunities including music and video production, instrument tuition, singing, lyric writing, DJing, band and performance programmes, and a range of artist development and creative career opportunities.

We’re working hard to remove barriers, so that our facilities and events can be accessible to as many people as possible.
