Saturday Sessions: Inspiring Exhibitions
Make your own art in response to our Hayward Gallery exhibition Chiharu Shiota: Threads of Life with artist Kirsty Reynolds.
Saturday Sessions are the perfect place to start the weekend. On a monthly basis you can enjoy a piece of art, make something new along with the artists and create with other children and their families – all for free!
Come and develop your artistic palette and digest the work of different artists through the ages, sampling what you like, what you don’t and what makes you say ‘I could do that’.
Through hands-on creative activities, discover how to examine artists’ decisions, influences and unique styles, and respond creatively to different pieces of art. The session shows how everyone can take inspiration from an artist’s practice.
Artist Kirsty Reynolds takes you on a journey through iconic contemporary work, from Keith Haring to Lubaina Himid, before arriving at the work of Chiharu Shiota and Yin Xiuzhen, the artists currently on show in the Hayward Gallery.
Kirsty Reynolds is a puppet maker, visual artist and socially engaged practitioner. She is passionate about bringing people together to connect, take risks and learn through play.
This edition of Saturday Sessions has been designed alongside Chiharu Shiota: Threads of Life and Yin Xiuzhen: Heart to Heart at the Hayward Gallery, Tue 17 Feb – Sun 3 May. You don’t need to see the exhibition to enjoy the workshop, but we encourage you to visit if you can.
