The Rest Is History: The Ultimate Victorian Adventure

Fri 4 Sep & Sat 5 Sep 2026

A queen’s fury and one dangerously daring rescue – podcast hosts Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook weave an epic live tale of one of history’s boldest expeditions.

It’s the 19th century. Queen Victoria is furious as British citizens have been taken hostage by a rival emperor. She must respond to this challenge. To do so, she will send her forces on a rescue mission over oceans, mountains and rivers, right into the heart of ‘enemy’ territory. There they will try to free the Queen’s subjects…

Your favourite hosts tell the rip-roaring story of one of history’s most daring assignments ever – never before heard on the show – in this live instalment of the wildly popular podcast.
