Chorus; a festival of the human voice

A look ahead to Chorus, as we get set to we welcome choirs from across the Nordic regions as part of our Nordic Matters programme

Chorus 2017 At Southbank Centre

Each year Chorus festival, curated by our year-round vocal programme, Voicelab  celebrates the power of the voice and the spirit of communal singing. As part of Chorus 2017 Rachel Mars performs the hilarious and dark show Our Carnal Hearts, and invites you to join in with Sing It! Spirit of Envy, whilst The ENO Chorus and Orchestra perform Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius in Royal Festival Hall

This year the festival ties in with our Nordic Matters programme with Surrounded By Strangers offering the chance to be immersed in the voices of Kammerkór Suðurlands (South Iceland Chamber Choir) and Southbank Centre's Voicelab. Swedish folk singers Åkervinda share their unique arrangements in a workshop, and all ages are invited to join the Big Sing: Songs from the Nordics.

Chorus takes place at Southbank Centre with events throughout the day on 1-2 July
