Get a flavour of our new series celebrating contemporary and classical music from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

In March 2024 we host South Asian Sounds, four days of concerts and gigs bringing together some of the biggest names in South Asian music, along with emerging new voices. And to give you an idea of what to expect, we’ve put together this playlist featuring a number of artists who we’ll be welcoming to the Southbank Centre.

Here you can enjoy established artists including the Punjabi bhangra of Malkit Singh, the classical Hindustani vocals of Kaushiki Chakraborty and the folk music of Malini Awasthi. And you can also hear more contemporary sounds such as the electronic Indo jazz of Sarathy Korwar, Pakistani multi-instrumentalists the Leo Twins and British-Bengali fusion band, Khiyo.

So clear a space of just over two hours in your diary, connect your headphones, and enjoy the artists of our inaugural South Asian Sounds.
