Whisk yourself away on a Spanish mini-break at La Gamba

Sunshine suffuses the menu of this Spanish-inspired tapas restaurant on the riverside from the brothers behind Applebee’s Fish, opening in early February.

After popping up on our site in recent years, the three Applebee brothers are tapping into their little black book of expert independent seafood suppliers at latest venture La Gamba.

They introduce a menu that takes inspiration from a variety of traditional Spanish recipes, with a special focus on the cuisine of the north-western Galician region.

It includes the likes of gambas al ajillo, aka garlic prawns – get ready to mop up the juices with a hunk of sourdough bread – traditional Galician-style octopus, light and crispy cod tempura, and a trio of tortilla, accompanied by fruity sangria or an ice-cold glass of house lager. Is your mouth watering yet?

The team uses British ingredients to bring to life its take on traditional Spanish recipes, from breakfast through to dinner.

At La Gamba, you can feel the Spanish sunlight radiating from vivid plates and sun-kissed wines, all while looking out over our own glorious views of the Thames. No passport necessary.
