Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement 2022

Southbank Centre is a multi-form arts venue based on the South Bank of the River Thames in London

Part of our operations include the running and management of three concert halls – the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room. Southbank Centre also includes the Hayward Gallery and the National Poetry Library.

Southbank Centre welcomes the opportunity to set out the steps that we have taken, and that we will take, to tackle modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and own operations. This is our fourth Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement to be posted on our website. Since our last statement, published in 2021, Southbank Centre has:

  • refreshed its risk based review of all of our key supply chains, including those third party companies providing merchandise, catering, security, cleaning, maintenance, information technology and building services to Southbank Centre. We will continue this review over the next 12 months as necessary;
  • refreshed and continued to assess the responses received to date from significant suppliers, particularly those operating in areas identified as high risk, who have not published a modern slavery statement. We will review this work again over the next 12 months in order to assess whether our existing due diligence should be refreshed and/or new due diligence on new suppliers be undertaken;
  • continued to make all staff (including new staff) aware of our Anti-Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy; and
  • continued to formulate a training programme for all staff. When introduced, this training will not only further implement and promote our Anti-Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy throughout Southbank Centre, but will also provide our staff with training on the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and how to identify and tackle Modern Slavery.

We will continue to monitor these steps and each year will formally review them to see where they can and should be adapted and developed.

Approved by Southbank Centre Board of Governors 1 November 2022.
