Laima photoshoot for her album, Purcell Sessions.

Through music, moving image and performance, electronic musician Laima aims to heal us by exploring our shift into a new world we are all adapting to.

Building on the fact that the Southbank Centre was founded to help the city recover after the Second World War, Laima wants to draw on our historic function of recovery, healing and community support after collective trauma in this performance of her new music.

She’s joined by special guests including Joe Goddard, Al Doyle and Deewee.

This event is part of our Purcell Sessions, which encourage artists to expand the scope of their work, through collaborations and new ventures into unknown territory.

Laima Leyton is a musician originally from São Paulo. Her career in music has included being one half of Mixhell, and playing live with Soulwax.

In 2019, she released her first solo record Home on DEEWEE, in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory.

Home is a conceptual double-album intended to be played simultaneously. It’s a record derived from Laima’s frustration with her domestic routine. It’s about finding the balance between being creative and expressing herself artistically, while maintaining her role as a mother.
