Playlist: Grace Jones' Meltdown
We all expected to be slaves to the rhythm at the Southbank Centre this as Grace Jones’ Meltdown took over our venues, but I don't think any of us were prepared for such a magnificent musical assault.
‘It is my mission to present to you many exciting and gifted artists from various sectors of the music world,’ said Jones as the final artists were added to the festival bill earlier this year, complementing a line-up already packed with boundary-breaking artists and international legends.
Across a remarkable 10 days we were taken on a musical journey from West African rhythms to Caribbean Soundclash, via indie, disco, rock, folk and pretty much everything in between. But just because the last of you Meltdown attendees have now staggered out from our auditorium doesn't mean we have to banish this festival to the archives just yet. So, here's a packed playlist featuring the artists from Grace Jones suitably spectacular festival that you can relive at your pleasure throughout the summer and beyond.
